Advanced Specialty Course in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, endorsed by the Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexican applicants) and the Universidad México Americana del Norte (international applicants).

Call for Applications for Admission to the Advanced Specialty Course in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, with a scheduled start date of March 1, 2026.

Requirements to be met by Mexican applicants:

1. Medical Degree and Professional License as a General Surgeon and Medical Specialty*.
Academic transcript or certificate including the grade point average (≥ 80/100), for both General Medicine and the Medical Specialty (completed or in progress).

2. Curriculum Vitae (Tec format).

3. CURP.

4. English Proficiency Test taken within the last 2 years.
If a valid test is not available, the Duolingo English Test is recommended (results within 48 hours).
Minimum accepted scores:

  • TOEFL ITP: ≥ 550 points
  • TOEFL iBT: ≥ 80 points
  • Duolingo English Test: ≥ 100 points

5. Three letters of recommendation (Tec format or free format).

6. Application for admission (Tec format).

7. Valid official identification (INE or passport).

8. ENARM Selection Certificate.

9. Birth certificate.

*If the applicant is currently completing the final year of the Medical Specialty and does not yet hold the official degree, an official certificate of studies may be submitted, including the expected completion date and current cumulative grade point average.

Requirements to be met by international applicants:

1. Specialty in General Surgery, documented with a digital copy of the specialist degree.

2. Nationality from any country in Latin America or Spain.

3. Age under 40 years.

4. Three letters of recommendation from surgeons who are members of the Bariatric Surgery Society of their country.

5. Availability for one full-time year with exclusive dedication.

6. Letter of commitment to become a member of the General Surgery Society of their country.

7. Letter of commitment to become a member of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Society of their country.

8. Letter explaining personal motivations and objectives for completing the Fellowship.

9. Updated Curriculum Vitae, including a photograph, in IFSO LAC format.

10. No final conviction in ordinary or ethical courts.

11. Willingness for teamwork.

12. Diploma in Research (desirable).

13. Language proficiency: Spanish or Portuguese and intermediate English.

14. The Fellowship does not include remuneration.
